Quick pollution Assignment

  1. Open Flash by clicking on the Flash Icon on the dock:



  2. Create a new document. Make sure it is Actionscript 2



  3. Save (+SHIFT+S) document in work folder Save as dance:



  4. Create a background layer. Click in Frame 1 of Layer 1 and draw something. Maybe a sky?


  5. Insert a layer (layer 2) for an object that emits smokes and draw it.


  6. Lock the background layer before you start to draw on layer 2



  7. Select the selection tool and click on the name of the Layer in the timeline to select the image



  8. Press F8 to convert image into a Movie Clip

  9. Double click on the movie clip to edit it. You should see something like this:



  10. Insert another new layer. Name it smoke


  11. Lock layer 2 before you start to draw on layer 3



  12. Click on the fill color and select gray for smoke.


  13. Open the Color Mixer panel (Window—> Color )

  14. Set the alpha value to 65% to make the fill transparent.



  15. Select the brush tool and paint in Layer 3 of Frame 1 a small blob—this will be smoke

  16. Select the selection tool (V) and select your small blob.


  17. CTRL+click (Right click) on frame 20 of your smoke layer (you may select a higher frame if you want slower smoke) and select INSERT KEYFRAME (F6).


  18. CTRL+click (Right click) on frame 20 of your other layers and select INSERT FRAME. (F5).


  19. In frame 20 of your smoke layer press Q to switch to the Transform tool (V)


  20. Click on the small blob and move the center point from the center to the bottom of the shape



  21. Now resize the blob by holding shift and dragging the corner up and to the right



  22. Select the Sub-selection tool



  23. Click on the blob and drag the points a bit to get a more interesting shape



  24. Select the Selection tool (V)


  25. Click on frame 20 in the smoke layer to hilite/select the frame. Adjust the color mixer so that now the Alpha=0%.



  26. Click on the name of the layer to select all frames.



  27. In Properties window select Tween and set it to Shape.

  28. If you want to, add another keyframe between 1 and 20 and make the alpha higher (this will give you a darker cloud of smoke).


  29. If you want the smoke to pause before repeating add blank frames (F7) to the smoke layer and extend the other layers (F5) to match.

  30. Go to Scene 1



  31. Insert a new layer



  32. Open your library by pressing +L


  33. Drag your symbol from the library to frame 1 of the new layer


  34. Add more images/layers/sounds, etc


  35. Play movie by clicking +RETURN
